PHOTO ENHANCEMENT Cats are renowned for being fussy eaters and my lot are no exception, so don’t think you are on your own. Below are examples of my cats favourite foods. However they all have one thing in common, they like their food fresh.
JASMINE 10 years old
Jasmine has a very sensitive stomach and conventional wet cat food can give her diarrhoea. Dry food (cat biscuits) are o.k. She will not eat any type of raw food at all. However her favourite food is poached fish, preferably hake. I buy a whole hake and poach it with some extra hake fillets. The whole hake is the best on the bone because of the jelly it makes. Then I pick the fish off when it has cooled and liquidise fish and liquid together to make a fish smoothie which she adores. I put portions of it into small foil bun containers and freeze. After feeding her this for a time she gained weight and had loads more energy, in fact she was a different cat!
MILLIE 13 years old
Millie’s favourite food has to be RAW, anything from chicken and fish to steak, especially small fresh raw anchovies as you can see in the video. Not much wasted there! She also adores prawns and any meat from a roast dinner. Other than that she is not very keen on cat biscuits but will eat a variety of wet cat food (tins/sachets) with a preference for the more expensive varieties!
ARCHIE 3 years old
Archie adores Felix sachets but it must be the fish variety. He also loves prawns, raw chicken but prefers poached fish to raw fish. Always hungry and ready for his meals. Then he’s straight off hunting for those “RATS” he loves to play with.
IF STRAY CATS COULD TALK WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT A HOUSE IT WOULD GO SOMETHING LIKE THIS :
A stray cat turns up at a house and asks politely “Have you anything for me to eat?”
“Well I have some leftovers from dinner if that’s o.k?”
“Yes, great I LOVE leftovers”
He approaches the food with gusto and finishes all the food. After a short period of time at his new home the cat asks “What’s for dinner tonight?”
“It’s your favourite - prawns.”
The cat approaches the dish slowly, sniffing the air, then looks up in disgust.
“These are defrosted frozen prawns, still cold from the fridge. How many times do I have to tell you, I want fresh prawns, I want them peeled, I want them chopped, I want them at room temperature and I want them from that Gourmet shop 40 minutes drive away!”
MISHKA 7 years old
Prawns, prawns and more prawns are his idea of heaven, fresh of course, peeled and chopped. However as Mishka is off hunting quite a lot I have found the best way to get him to turn up every morning and evening ( for me to check he is ok) is to give him 1 or 2 prawns morning and night. He quite likes Felix salmon variety, but it must be the small square foil containers, not the tins or the sachets!!! One day he will eat raw chicken and fish the next day he turns his nose up at it!!!
SACHA 3 years old
Compulsive eater I am afraid, snacking on biscuits all day. (With 11 cats coming and going I have to leave biscuits down all the time) He is the only cat that will do tricks. The stupid thing is I just take some biscuits from the bowl as his treat - I think maybe he just likes to do the tricks. He is also the only cat that likes RAW SQUID he goes mad for it. He quite likes Felix sachets in the morning and also likes poached fish and of course prawns.
HANNI Approx 9 years old
Eats just about everything, but his favourite is raw chicken. I only ever buy free range chicken, even for the cats, not because of the cats but because I cannot abide the cruelty of battery chickens. He also loves the small raw anchovies and raw sword fish. Easy cat to feed, maybe HE still remembers being on the street and being starving.
AMBER 10 years old
Not that interested in food. Sometimes she will eat raw fish and chicken and then another day refuses it. She likes the raw fresh anchovies, biscuits and most wet cat foods and of course prawns.
FRODO 6 years old
Not keen on any raw food, loves biscuits and Felix cat food (sachets) but not keen on any other type of wet cat food and does not even eat prawns.
LEYLAH 9 years old
Always on the lookout for food. Eats biscuits, most wet cat food, the more expensive the better. She won’t eat whole raw fish but will sometimes eat raw fillets, chopped up small. Loves prawns and poached fish.
MISTY 6 years old
A bit fussy when it comes to wet cat food, but Felix sachets are always a success. None of them like the beef variety so I tend to always get the Felix fish sachets.Loves biscuits, prawns but won’t eat raw fish or chicken.
BABY 7 years old
Likes raw food but it must be cut up small, even then she shakes it in her mouth before eating it, as if to kill it or shake off any dirt after her imaginary kill!. Eats a variety of biscuits and most cat food, preference again for the more expensive varieties.
I NEVER GIVE THEM ANY HUMAN PROCESSED FOOD i.e. ham, bacon cold meats etc except pate which I use for putting tablets in if I have to give any of them anti-biotics. See Cats - Health Problems
Most of them that like fish eat up my leftovers from mackerel. sword fish, hake, salmon, melva ( similar to tuna) as long as I have not put garlic on it!
